Idelman Mansion & Kendrick Building Restoration
Iron Spur Architecture & Design is leading the historic restoration of the Idelman Mansion and Kendrick Building in downtown Cheyenne, Wyoming. These two architecturally significant properties represent an important part of Wyoming's history, showcasing the craftsmanship, character, and architectural detailing of the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
Originally constructed in 1893, the Idelman Mansion reflects Cheyenne's early prosperity and Victorian architectural heritage, while the Kendrick Building, constructed in 1916, features distinctive historic detailing designed by prominent Wyoming architect William Dubois.
The restoration project focuses on preserving the architectural integrity of both buildings while addressing deterioration and extending their service life for future generations. The scope includes comprehensive exterior restoration of historic masonry, sandstone detailing, ornamental features, windows, doors, and roofing systems, along with targeted structural repairs and improvements to the adjacent carriage houses.
Working closely with preservation specialists, engineers, and skilled restoration contractors, Iron Spur is developing thoughtful, historically sensitive solutions that balance traditional materials and craftsmanship with modern building performance. Restoration methods are guided by the Secretary of the Interior's Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties, emphasizing the retention and repair of original historic fabric wherever feasible.
Through careful investigation, detailed documentation, and specialized restoration techniques, this project reflects Iron Spur's commitment to safeguarding Wyoming's architectural heritage and ensuring these landmark buildings remain an enduring part of Cheyenne's historic landscape.
